Inclusion
Every child in our school is a light in the world, and our purpose is to help that light shine as brightly as it possibly can. We believe that when children feel seen, understood and valued, they grow into learners who are Caring, Confident and Committed to their learning. These qualities guide everything we do and shape the way we nurture every child’s individual journey.
As a small school, we know our children and families incredibly well. This closeness is one of our greatest strengths. It allows us to understand each child’s personality, interests, challenges and hopes, and to respond in ways that feel personal, thoughtful and meaningful. Families are partners in this process, and their insight helps us create a learning environment where children feel secure, supported and ready to shine.
Inclusion is central to who we are. Our Inclusion Strategy sets out many of the ways we support children, but it is not a complete list, because true inclusion cannot be captured in a single document. It is individual, flexible and responsive. Children’s needs change over time, and our support changes with them. What matters most is that every child receives what they need at that moment to make their own personal progress.
We achieve this through Quality First Teaching, by truly knowing our children, by working with families, by planning focused intervention that is purposeful and time‑bound, and by collaborating with outside agencies when specialist expertise is needed. Each of these elements helps us remove barriers, build confidence and create opportunities for children to flourish.
Every child brings something special into our school. Our role is to nurture it, protect it and help it grow. Through inclusion, care and a deep belief in every child’s potential, we ensure that their light not only shines, but shines as brightly as it possibly can.
