Medicines In School
We do not keep or administer medicine on the school premises except for pupils with a known ongoing medical condition such as asthma, diabetes, Anaphylaxis and ADHD. Medication for these conditions should be clearly labelled and a school care plan may be required.
In exceptional circumstances prescribed medications (pre-measured, single dose e.g. in a syringe) will be accepted in school. The medication must be named and a covering letter must accompany the medication. It must be delivered to and collected from the school office at the beginning and end of the day by an adult (not a child). Two members of staff will supervise the child taking the medication, but they will not administer it. They will both then sign the Pupil Medication Log as a record. Parents are always welcome to come and administer the medicines themselves or the children may go home for lunch.
